Cossonay women's team getting ready for Cricket Switzerland Women's League 2024 season
30 March 2024
The women’s team from Cossonay Cricket Club proudly made history last year by participating in Cricket Switzerland's first-ever women's league. The Cricket Switzerland's Women’s League (CSWL) made a significant mark in 2023 with the initiation of its first official competition. The league witnessed the participation of five teams from across Switzerland, showcasing their talent and passion for the game.
The 2023 season saw each team engage in exciting T15 matches against every other team, setting the stage for intense (but friendly) competition and great skill displays. The inaugural season not only marked a historic milestone for women's cricket in Switzerland but also highlighted a remarkable improvement in the standard of play across all participating teams.
As the cricketing community eagerly awaits the 2024 CSWL season, Cossonay Cricket Club is extending a warm invitation to new players who wish to be part of this exciting journey. Whether you're an experienced player looking to further hone your skills or a newcomer eager to embrace the sport, this is your opportunity to join a dynamic and growing community of women cricketers. We have team members coming from Valais, Vaud and Geneva.
So don't miss the chance to be part of something special; sign up today or send us a message and be part of the Women’s Cossonay team and the upcoming season.

Cossonay CC are taking part in the "So British!" event at Coop Leman Centre, Crissier. The club accepted an invitation from the Swiss Supermarket chain to promote Cossonay CC and the Swiss Cricket Association as part of a roadshow promoting British culture and products.
The promotion runs for 2 weeks from 6th June and sees the Club manning a stand (near Ochsner Sport) displaying cricket equipment and CCC memorabilia.
With posters, cricket demos and a tv showing continuous cricket action, the effort has certainly stirred the interest of the locals triggering numerous questions about how the game is played, whilst the braver ones even had a go at wielding the willow.

U13s
Under a glorious sun and amidst the hubub from an adjacent football tournament, Cossonay U13s recorded a resounding win against their counterparts from Gingins. Having lost the toss, Cossonay batted first and amassed an impressive 127-4 from their 20 overs. The performance was all the more impressive as the vast majority of the runs came off the bat, with the Gingins bowlers conceding very few extras to the home side. Another key feature of the innings was clear calling between the batsmen and regular rotation of the strike.
Cossonay batted positively from the start with Greg Foster (14) and Arnav Sandu (17) putting the rival bowlers under immediate pressure. Greg's dismissal brought in one of CCC's U11s, Thomas Bews, who went on to make an unbeaten 30 not out (retired) including 3 fours. With Arnav run out on a misjudged single, Nathan Ryan and Ryan Whitlow came together with the latter making his first appearance of the season. Nathan continued the momentum of his colleagues by cracking a crowd-pleasing straight six and Ryan blasted 3 sixes and a 4 before being dismissed for a quickfire 27. U11 Sebastien Lodge and debutant Jackson Vickerstaff then saw the innings neatly through to
completion at 127-4.
A disciplined bowling and impressive fielding performance followed from CCC seeing Gingins bowled out for 62. Notable performances with the ball came from pacemen Greg Foster and Nathan Ryan, followed by a very promising bowling effort from another U11, Liam Vickerstaff.

Once again Cossonay took part in the Zuoz (near St Moritz) 3 day invitational tournament on the last weekend of May. It was an opportunity to play lots of cricket & gain invaluable match experience. Despite an occasionally chilly wind, the weather remained dry and all the boys enjoyed the experience.
Cossonay fielded an U15 side whilst 2 boys guested for other clubs. This included Cossonay's Thomas Bews who took the award for Best U11 batsman in the tournament, scoring 115 runs in 6 innings & getting out only once in the process (average 115 !).
