Winning the toss on a glorious sunny day was the only thing that went right for the Cossonay tigers. The openers Sriniketh Srinivasan(11) and debutant Rajesh Shanmugasundharam(6) struggled to keep the scoreboard moving. After the openers perished, Tigers lost Sathya(6) and Lalit(4) to be reduced to 38/4. Arjun Singh(21) and Vaibhav(19) put up a brief fight. When Tigers Captain Yeti(9) fell, Cossonay were reduced to 112/9. Kishore sandu with the help of some brave batting by debutant Dudley Langlier managed to bring the score to 139. Defending a low score, cossonay got off to a horror start putting down GICC's main batsman Ankit in the very first over. The drop proved costly as Ankit anchored the innings with a sylish 77 not out. Vaibhav Singh picked up 2 wickets, while lalit and Sriniketh picked up one each. Kishore Sandu picked up a brilliant catch at slips along the way. In the end, GICC cruised to a 6 wicket victory with 41 balls to spare. Next week's two T20's gives the Tigers a chance to stake their claim in the semifinals of two T20 tournaments - provided the batsman start scoring some runs !!! |
