Author: <Vaibhav Singh>, Player, Cossonay Cricket Club Date: <09.06.2013> On 9th of June, a Super Sunday, Cossonay were scheduled to play two of their Pickwick T20 fixtures at En Marche. In the first match, Cossonay annihilated Swiss Colts after bowling them all out for a meagre 36 runs in 16 overs. Batting first, Colts were exposed to the excellent opening spells of Himank and Kishore. They bowled at good lengths and kept the off stump line, luring the batsmen to reach for the ball and getting out either by nicking it to slips (to the safe hands of Lalit) or slashing it to Arjun at point. Both picked 2 wickets each. Later, Jasbir with his pace and Arjun with his variations were no respite for Colts either, who panicked under pressure. Jasbir got the better of Simon as he tried to flash unsuccessfully giving a simple catch to Aditya. Arjun from the other end picked up three quick wickets. Cossonay’s ground fielding was excellent with 7 catches being taken. Gnana’s direct hit for a run out summed up the excellent day on the field. In response, Cossonay openers Sathya and Sriniketh were aggressive in the run chase and reached the target in 5.2 overs, giving a massive boost to the NRR J. The second match against Uprising CC had to be abandoned due to rain. It has to be said that Uprising got really lucky as Cossonay were well on course to reach the target of 200 runs in 20 overs. It was a Sriniketh show (a sublime 82 runs innings) as Cossonay were 173 runs in 17overs when rain stopped play. The match will be rescheduled to a later date. With 2 wins out of 3 in the Pickwick T20 competition, Cossonay have now moved to top of the table with a healthy NRR. Let’s carry the momentum to the league match against Cern CC next weekend. |
