Led by Gnanasekaran Thoppae, Cossonay Tigers travelled to Geneva for a
40 over friendly away game against Geneva Uprisings CC on 27th May, 2012.

On a really hot and humid day, Uprisings won the toss and decided to
Field. For the first few overs the Cossonay openers Arjun Singh and Sriniketh
Srinivasan began steadily picking up singles and kept the strike rotating.
Uprisings CC captain Nelson decided to give his opening bowler Michel after
just two overs and this move started the onslaught by Arjun. In an innings filled
with variety of strokes, Arjun treated the Uprisings CC bowling to some huge and
mighty blows. The opening pair put on 130 runs in 16 overs before Arjun fell
for a quick fire 71. Cossonay lost a second wicket soon before Gnana
joined Sriniketh in the center and the pair took the score to 201 for 2 in 27 overs.
Uprisings left armer Gareth removed Sriniketh for 72 in the 28 th over, followed
by two more wickets in the same over. Gnana fell to a brilliant catch in the next
over and this caused Cossonay innings to collapse for 209 All out in the 30 th over.

In the chase, Cossonay opening bowlers Gnana and Arjun picked up
regular wickets to dent any hopes Uprisings had of a victory. The bowlers were
supported by some brilliant ground fielding by Phillipe Gimmel and Simone
Fortier that helped save a lot of runs. The good work of the opening bowlers
were continued by Himank Anand and Manoj kumar and the Uprising innings
folded for 150 Runs.

The Clash was spiced up by an on-field exchange of words between
Cossonay’s Vishal Vijay and Uprising’s Michel during the latter’s batting stint. But
In the end Cossonay had a comfortable day out and returned from Geneva with
an away victory.
