Author: Sriniketh Srinivasan, Player, Cossonay Cricket Club Date: 08.07.2012 Cossonay Tigers fall to back-to-back defeats Cossonay cricket club’s stint in the Swiss T20 cup ended with back-to-back defeats to Olten CC and Zurich Nomads. On Saturday, Cossonay crashed to a 4-wicket defeat to Olten. This was followed by a 55 run defeat to Nomads on Sunday.
On Saturday 07.07.2012, put into bat Cossonay was carried by a classy opener Sathyanarayanan’s 54 and Kishore’s 39 to make 140 all out in 20 overs. In reply, Kishore removed the olten openers cheaply. But the Olten 3rd wicket partnership batted briskly to take the score to 83 in 9 overs. A middle order collapse followed but Olten was carried by Murali to reach the target in 16 overs. Kishore ended with figures of 2/12 and Niketh took 4/33.
On Sunday 08.07.2012, Cossonay returned requiring a victory to have a chance of progressing to the next round, but under cloudy skies the Nomads batsmen took a heavy toll on the bowlers to make 233 runs in 20 overs. In reply, Cossonay was once again guided by opener Sathyanarayanan who went on to make a brilliant 92 not out, but a huge score of 233 was always monumental and Cossonay ended 53 runs short.
