Cossonay Tigers lose to XI Stars:

Leading to the game between Geneva XI stars and Cossonay, both teams came in with an unbeaten record making this match crucial to their semi-final prospects. XI stars captain Raja Hafeez won the toss and decided to bat first. The XI Stars openers Asvin and Waleed responded by adding 100 Runs for the first wicket at a very brisk pace before aftab removed waleed for 23. Asvin was joined by Muhammed Ali who literally tonked Cossonay's bowling with 4 Fours and 4 huge sixes to make a quick fire 53 before Pradeep rao bowled him out. Asvin meanwhile carried on batting to score a brilliant century. Cossonay fought back in the last 10 overs to restrict GXI Stars to 322 for 8 in 40 overs. Asvin ended up making 143 while kishore and sriniketh picked up 3 and 3 wickets apiece. For Cossonay, Himank was the most economical bowler conceding just 4 Runs per over off his 6 overs and was unlucky not to pick up any wickets.

The Cossonay reply started under gloomy weather with rain just around the corner. Unfortunately Cossonay lost captain Yeti(9) before the rain intervened. The rain break reduced the number of overs to 33 and the revised target was set at 267. Sathyanarayanan carried on his form from last week with some beautiful strokes before unfortunately falling hit wicket for 27 runs. A mix up between Aftab and Sriniketh led to Aftab's dismissal and Cossonay was reeling at 64 for 3 after 10 overs. Matt Boden(31) played some attractive strokes during his stay and a quick fire 50 run partnership between Kishore sandu and Sriniketh gave cossonay hope of a victory. Himank joined Sriniketh and the pair continued scoring at a very good pace before Sriniketh(47) ran out with the score reading 173 for 6 in 23 overs. When Himank(22) fell soon, a valiant attempt by the lower order not withstanding, cossonay tigers fell short and were left to wonder what if those run-outs and hit wickets hadn't taken place. As a special mention, Cossonay batsman Praveen Thampi scored his first run in club cricket with a straight drive of raja hafeez. Cossonay now needs to win the next 2 games to qualify for the semis.
